Thought I’d share my most recent Hawaii trip with you all. It was my 6th time and Reece's 1st time, we were celebrating his 30th birthday so our holiday was pretty jam packed!
We booked through My Hawaii and stayed at the Hyatt Regency - hotel tax and transfers were also included in our package.
I am an organised freak so I book everything well in advance and design up an itinerary to keep track of what’s happening. I’ve included this below.
Day 1 We flew Hawaiian Airlines! We went on a sunset dinner cruise - the Star of Honolulu. I surprised Reece with the celebration package which included a cake, photo, window seat and cake server gift. The food and entertainment was excellent! They also picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel.
Day 2 We went on a circle island tour through Discover Hawaii Tours. I’ve done this tour a few times before because I love it so much! They take you to Waimea Falls and all the great spots around the whole island. The Vans Pro Surf Comp was on, so we were able to stop and watch that for half an hour! Was great!
Day 3 We went to Waikele Premium Outlets and caught the Roberts Hawaii shuttle there and back. Love this place so much! Halloween was this night - we went as Hawaiian Barbie and Ken and took our costumes with us. Halloween was such an amazing experience! If you’re going around this time and you like to sleep haha, check if your hotel has any events on. There was a Halloween Party at the Hyatt and the music was pumping until well after 3am.
Day 4 We hired a convertible Mustang through Alamo Waikiki! It was so cheap and included all insurances. We drove around the island to all the places we didn’t get to see on our island tour. Reece found it so easy to navigate around, road signage is so clear it’s almost impossible to get lost. We went to Makapuu Pier, Lanikai Beach, Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens and the Dole Plantation to name a few!
Day 5 We drove the car to Diamond Head for a sunrise hike, fairly easy hike but still was quite warm that time of morning! We returned the car and then caught bus #22 to Pearl Harbour.... I would recommend waiting for #42 as it is quicker. We saw the Arizona memorial and then caught a shuttle to the Missouri. Definitely recommend the free 30min tour!!! I have done a Pearl Harbor tour previously- but it’s just as easy to do it yourself, plus you’ll save a bit of $$$.
Day 6 Today we were supposed to climb Koko Head but it was raining so we gave it a miss. As the day cleared up we then went to Hanauma Bay! Being a Sunday we didn’t realise that busses are less frequent. A guy approached us on the street called Surfer Joe and offered to take all 3 of us for $20 each way. He seemed so dodgy but we took the risk and it paid off - we are still alive to tell the story ha! He drove us there and also picked us up as we had to be back in Waikiki by 4:30pm, he’ll do anything for you - take you shopping, on island tours etc. We took our own snorkel gear with us! We then went parasailing through Hawaiian Parasail - these guys were amazing! I’m terrified of heights but did not feel scared the entire time, we did the 800ft line. They take your photos for $30 with a DSLR camera and the pics are excellent, definitely worth it.
Day 7 I had booked powered hang gliding as a surprise for My partners 30th, but unfortunately it was cancelled due to winds. We hired a car and drove to Haleiwa for the morning, I love this place so much - we spent an hour here but you could really spend all day. We then went zip lining at Climb Works... out of everything I’ve ever seen and done in Hawaii this would be my number one pick! The staff were so much fun, everything ran seamlessly.
The end of October / early November is a quiet time for tourists apparently! This made it easy for us to find parking everywhere!
