ACRYLIC AVIARY
I paint for work all the time, but I’ve never really painted just because I could. Acrylic Aviary is the first time I’ve created a full collection entirely for myself, not to teach, not for a client just because I love birds.

People often ask me, “Can I see your work?” and honestly, until now, I haven’t had much to show them. Sure, I’ve painted a few pieces here and there for local exhibitions, but this is the first time I’ve created an entire body of acrylic work. I’ve always been known as a local artist, yet no one’s really seen my art - until now.

Many know me as Paint with Shell, where I guide beginners through relaxed, fun art workshops. But this exhibition shows a completely different side. The art I create in workshops is intentionally simple designed to be completed in just a few hours. This collection is the first time I’ve let my own style take the lead.

Acrylic Aviary is an earthy, bold collection of acrylic bird paintings my largest and most detailed works to date. Most of the birds featured are native Australian species. I love the challenge of capturing all their tiny details, the glint in their eye, the texture of their feathers, their personality.

With a background in graphic design and a degree in Visual Communication Design, I’ve spent years immersed in digital work. But now, I’ve come full circle back to the canvas.
I hope when people walk into this exhibition, they feel a little spark of joy and maybe even hear the birds singing through the brushstrokes.
